Back to School = Back to the Studio

Ahhh! Silence.

I am slowly finding my desk, my sewing machine, my floor.  I am ready for fall and everything that goes with it. Getting back in my routine, kids getting back to theirs.

I am searching through a stack of books determined to find a pattern for a full apron that I remember seeing…once. Wish me luck.

I hope you have a wonderful “back to school” !

Enjoy!

May Days…

My dad turns 80 today. My first niece graduates from high school next Friday, heading to Arizona State. I am spending my Mothers Day weekend at a soccer tournament (?), WOW spring is really here!

do drop studios is changing seasons also…at the end of March I left Trendz. You can now find my items online, here, or at Stuff in Brookside. Stuff has also launched it’s online store!! WooHoo! (pursuegoodstuff.com) I have some fun art fairs lined up for the year and I will keep you posted with dates (I love to meet you all in person!) and have decided to opt out of the JLKC Holiday Mart for 2010.

Soon I will have my new items posted…I have fabric envelopes that are ADORABLE! I use mine for my Kindle, but there are a lot of uses I have come to find out from fans and friends…I have a new pincushion I had been itching to premier… and it is ready for it’s debut. I have some fun pillowcases, that were a hit at my 10 year olds birthday party for party favors (I love party favors!),  more aprons…, and whatever else I can come up with!

Keep in touch and enjoy today!

Happy Birthday Dad!

spring has sprung…

nothing can get me out of a wintery funk faster than fabric shopping! Oh what a delightful day I had yesterday…. I think I am just about out of aprons everywhere, so I will be restocking. Have some new ideas up my sleeve, some have been shoved up there awhile, some are still in the “how will I do that” process…

Hannah and I picked out so many fabrics, she finally said, “I think that is enough Mom.” and she is my patient one! So, stay tuned, new items arriving daily.

Enjoy.

If you can’t make it, you can always order online, see my things at STUFF in Brookside, or at Trendz in Leawood…

tick, tock

I can’t help but look up at the calendar and see that JLKC  Holiday Mart is THIS week. I can’t help but look up at the clock and the seconds are ticking away and I am blogging and sewing, facebooking and checking email, ordering things I may or may not need…and think, why am I doing this?

It’s because on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday I will meet up with good friends, make some new ones, tell stories about my creations, sell my loved items, be a gift for someone this Christmas…I will not sleep, I will want to throw up, I will lean on my dads shoulder at least twice…I will have fun, I will have a raffle (I love raffles), I will give out free chocolates…and I will be so glad I was at JLKC Holiday Mart 2009!

Come and say hi! I will be in booth #702, second room, second row, corner…I would love to meet you.

Enjoy!

BANG!

Well, let me just give a big THANKS to the wonderful shoppers that made it out to Hawthorne Plaza, on a beautiful Saturday! I will admit, I was off to a slow start…a little worried, starting lowering expectations, and I was next to a little lady that had market merchandise that was selling for 2/$5…and she was selling like hotcakes, but it only took a little while to figure out the other artists were scowling at her…it got exciting there for a little bit…(as angry as artists can get, kind of way)…

But then, the apron lovers never let me down! They came out, they oohed, they ahhed, tryed on, modeled for their friends, bought ones I was wearing….it was a fun day and in the end a very successful one for do drop in.

So thank you’s to all of you out there that still love the originals. And, thanks to Denisse of www.tailorednest.com, she is my new sewing friend in Rochester, NY.

enjoy!

busy as a bee…

This weekend is my first show of the fall season…I will be at Hawthorne Plaza on Saturday, September 19th. It is their first artists fair and I was happy to be included. Please come by and say hi…and shop!  I will have my aprons, doorstops, dishtowels, some grab and go stationery and then whatever else I can get done between now and then.

JL Holiday Mart plans are going full speed. I have my dad working on my new display and I am very excited! I will have my full line of home accessories and stationery plus my new pillows and hot water bottle covers that I am dying to show off! So, mark your calendar for October 22-25, come everyday and keep me company.

kinda miss it…

why do you make things to sell, if you are going to be sad to see them go? I struggle with this all the time…last Friday a very nice woman purchased “my apron”, it was one of the first aprons I had created for the site, by the name you can kind of guess it was one of my favorites…

I was walking out of  Trendz and there was a lady with my apron on over her tennis skirt and tee. (not quite the look I would have suggested, but it worked on her), and she was sooo happy! She said, I will wear this all the time, I now have a place for my cell phone when I am working around the house…we were introduced, I told her I had made it. It was nice to meet you. It comforts me to know “my apron” will be loved…aprons-1

I swear, they just POP into my head…

I have known for years that a very dear friend of mine sleeps with a hot water bottle. Very old school, I thought it was cute, quirky…very Erin. I was literally running through the grocery store three days ago for milk (and when I am not the one doing it, I hate when people run in stores), I was cutting through the pharmacy section and turned my head just a little and on the top shelf at the grocery store was hot water bottles (two boxes actually). I made it a few more strides before I came to a halt and backtracked. Could my friend be on to something? This was not an item handed down from great grandma, this can be purchased TODAY at your local Price Chopper…I guess you know where I fit in…Coming Soon to Blue Moon: Adorable Hot Water Bottle COVERS! I am so excited I can hardly stand it. And, if my gut is true, and now only Erin and I own hot water bottles ( I had to buy one to make a pattern), WE are going to have the cutest hot water bottles our grandmas have ever seen! Let me know if YOU own a hot water bottle, I am kind of intriqued with this community now…
